Christianity is one of the Worlds most followed believed and worshipped religions with an estimated two and a half billion faithful around the World. Easter is the most important time of year for Christians who celebrate the Crucifixion and Resurrection of Christ.

Christian or not, Spring is an important time of year for many, a time for hope & celebration as the darkness of winter passes and spring arrives, new light emerges and new life flourishes.

Yet the spring of 2020 is one that dawns in the grip of darkness.

Due to the SARS 2020 Pandemic the World is on lockdown, mass fear, mass death and mass suffering spread across the whole planet indiscriminate of faith, creed, race of nationality.

Places of worship ritual and reflection which followers of Christianity & all humanity are able & welcome to attend and would usually floc to over Easter are instead occupied only by the leaders of religion who stand in empty Churches performing ritual in isolation which echo through the silence.

Places of Nature that normally draw thousands of visitors this time of year are now desolate of humanity as people are restricted to stay away from the places they would normally draw inspiration, hope & freedom from, yet these places of nature are not empty, as the creatures of the natural world reclaim their habitats as ecosystems slowly recover in the absence of humanity.

Places of Leisure which draw many more visitors stadiums, pitches, swimming pools, gyms, cinemas, theatres, libraries, shopping centres, restaurants, pubs & coffee shops all stand in silence stripped of the custom and dedicated use of customers as people stay at home to save each other.

All of these places of worship Religious, Natural and Leisure are empty at a time when people most need them, through their faith, whatever that maybe, to draw strength from as they are now isolated and faced with a new reality of survival.

Yet the message of Christianity is much more than a singular place, the message of Christ is enacted through thoughts words & actions of its followers, like all religions which celebrate goodness, light, life & love over the dark. Staying at home is possibly the biggest reflection of these messages, to put aside ones own desires for the good of others.

Messages that can be seen in the selfless actions of frontline healthcare givers who face the darkness directly and give hope through their actions to the sick and by extension to entire families and the whole of humanity, despite themselves standing in the face of danger, fear & death, who draw strength from deep within and years of education and professionalism to continue doing the most important of human tasks caring for others.

Messages which taken in isolation extend beyond religion, messages which reflect the laws of the natural world and life itself, feelings of love & loss which ultimately extend beyond religions, which extend throughout humanity, which extend beyond humanity through the heart of life itself.
